What's cheap?

I'm hoping less than 15k stg with climate, leather, 17" alloys, reasonable miles and FSH. Probably get it from 911virigin.com, got my last 911 from him. I know if I just went a little higher than 15k I could get a 2.7 but I really would be stretching the knicker elastic at anything higher than that price!!

Have you done any research on exhausts??

Only on the net; haven't yet gotten around to the phoning around part.

Don't think I could live with a Fabspeed; sounds a bit cheap to my ears. Agree with Irish about the Dansk. Gemballa sound nice but very pricey.

I quite like the sound of the PSE and I like the idea of being able to switch it off when appropriate; long journeys with an 18-month old in the back aren't much fun is the kid is competing with the exhaust sound-wise. That said, it's a shedload of money to pay for the installation of the electrics.

I ran up to a Porsche at traffic lights in London the other day (very uncool of me, and rather alarming for the driver, no doubt, but I couldn't help myself) to ask why his 996 was making such a lurvely noise. Answer: Cargraphic. Lucky, lucky you, Irish!

I'm vaguely in two minds about getting a new exhaust, because part of me wonders should I update to a facelift model - I quite like the idea of a little extra poke... If I do, it's obviously a bit stoopid to plough a few quid into the current car.

I just wish I could afford the Turbo for sale at 911virgin.com - the first I've seen in a while in my favourite colour combination

Decisions decisions! ... I'm trying to decide at this stage when I'm going to change and what it'll be .. and I've got a h-h-h hankerin for a turbo too.. I can't get any info on what are the weak spots to look for , but I reckon it'll be some time yet before changing .. and at that stage the 997s will also look damn attractive ... things that make you go hmmmm!

In the mean time I'm in the same boat as you , would love the convenience of switchable , but can't justify the expenditure (even in my own 'little boy' brain!)

So it'll have to be something like the cargraphic .. not too loud but raspy as hell once she's opened up.

Edited to say ..... Have to agree agree with you Mark... That turbo at virgin is just the doggies dangily bits. It's the same colour interior as my jammer , and although I know it's not everybodies cup o tea , I'd have it over any other spec.
There's something classy about it .. And the exterior blue sets it off superbly.

Ok....I'm off back to virgin for another goo.

Just a clarification on an earlier post - Irish nationals have always had full authority to vote in UK elections. I arrived in the UK in 1986 and have voted in every election since 1987. All you have to do is make sure our name is on the Electoral Role.

Jeez Ballcock, I think I'm in the wrong company. I need to start looking again judging by the rumours, or just stay single a little bit longer.

I wonder if the missus would notice if I bought it on the sly.

"No, darling, it's just a body kit, and that Zymol wax treatment really brought out the colour, didn't it?"

The repeated non-availabilty of funds in the joint account for a few years might be a give-away, tho'...

There was an anomaly for years whereby Irish Nationals living in the UK had the full vote but British nationals living in the Irish Republic didn't. That has been corrected now. As part of the 1994 Agreement, UK Nationals living in Irelamd can vote in Irish elections - if they want to.

I was wondering how long I can use my irish driver's license in the UK before I have to swap it for a UK one? I have been living in London since January 2005 and have heard that you should change your license after a year if you are staying in the UK. Anyone have any info on this?

Cheers

Simon

If you change your licence to a UK licence.... then you'll a licence that lasts until your 70.... as opposed to having to shell out every 3 years if you return to Ireland.

When I returned to Ireland, I asked in the local Garda station about getting the form to exchange my licence back to an Irish one... his comment was that I'd probably the first person who ever did that!... so I didn't bother.

But surely the Irish authorities wouldn't allow you to drive around indefinitely on a UK licence?
