Hello everyone,

Just want to know whether the Elise SC uses the same pads as a standard S2 or whether it has model specific pads ? I have standard calipers and not the AP upgrade.

I absolutely mullered the front set at Goodwood yesterday, that'll teach me for having too much fun.

Thanks in advance.

Yes they have same pads.

No good for track use.

Try some Pagids RS42's.

Change the brake lines and get some decent brake fluid like Castrol SRF.

That should be Ok unless you become a serious tracker and then the options are endless.

I was thinking of giving the CL RC5+ pads a go as they seem to get good reviews.

I'll also be sorting out the fluid and getting braded hoses as you mention as it's going to be more than occassional track use, I've done 3 days already this year.

Cheers.

My 08 Elise SC had rubber brake lines but just changed to a MY11 Elise SC and that's got Goodridge steel braided lines as standard smile

A lot of us regular Lotus Track dayers have done the Carbon Loraine thing. Some are happy but a lot have gone back to RS42's.

Have a look on Seloc or Exiges.com

Many people are unhappy with pad rattle, squeal or pad transfer. I suffered with Pad transfer.

I am now running RS14's and will move to RS15's next time.

Thanks for the links, that's swung it for the Pagids for me.

Cheers.

How are you finding them? Perfect RC5+ pads here, wet or dry, road or track, I would'nt look back at this stage

I’ve changed mine for Pagits (blue), they do the job as should but even after copious amounts of copper grease and anti vibration pads they still squeal when crawling to a halt, I’ve started using my hand brake to stop at that point, as It’s embarrassing.
It’s been suggested that I file the edge of the pads to match the old pads that came out.

try bedding the pads in from time to time as per instructions on Pagid website

if you just drive around on the road (rather than hard track use) they will squeal under light use...the bedding in helps, as does hard braking occasionally

I tried Pagids RS-42 on my Elise and whatever I did could not stop them squealing so have never used them again.

Same here mate, RC5+ with no rattles or squeaks and simply fantastic confidence on the brakes all the time smile

Pagid RS42 here. Very happy with them, only very light ringing from them on some occasions during road driving, and loud squeaking back in the pits after a track session, but mostly silent.
