Elise won't start, MFRU?

So, Elise didn't start a couple of months ago, and due to a small lack of time, only came to fixing it yesterday. Replaced the starter, and at the same time the spark plugs, cables and distributor cap. It still didn't start, so yesterday the final touch, I replaced the MFRU. After some trying and encouraging, she started. I let her warm up and made a test drive, everything worked fine. Then on the driveway, I gave it some revs - good to hear that sound again . All of a sudden, I heard a noise, the engine just stopped running and it doesn't start since. The noise was like a big fuse snapping (hard to explain in English for me...). Could it be the MFRU again? And if so, why?
