Yet another Elise Stack problem...
Discussion
Having had my 2003 S2 111S for nearly a month and totally besotted with it, I took it for an A service as scheduled at a certain well known Kent Lotus dealer. On collection, I noticed the trip had been reset, but thought nothing of it. About 20 miles down the motorway, I noticed the speedo was reading about 20 mph fast compared to my satnav. When I got to my destination, I did some checks on the speedo and even with the ignition off it won't go to zero but stops at about 16 mph and consistently reads about 16 mph high. The digital odometer/trip display window also stays lit whatever I do, even when the lights and the rest of the dials are not lit, and even when the ignition is off. The trip resets every time the ignition goes off and every other time it comes back on showing to two decimal places. Locking the car and leaving it makes no difference, though the alarm appears to work as normal. Everything else electrical, including the odometer and rev counter, is fine.
I've spoken to the dealer who says that nothing they do in the service should affect the Stack. I've tried the cunning reset thing with the door open, including being talked through it by the dealer's technical specialist to ensure I did it correctly, but nothing happened to the Stack at all - no reset.
The dealer has suggested the only option is to take it back to them which means another 90 mins each way on the M25 which I would prefer not to do. I'm also concerned that the constantly lit digital display will run the battery down. I've looked at previous posts on related topics and not found anything that would help. How long can I leave it between running it with the constantly lit digital display window - should I be starting it to allow the battery to charge every day? Anybody out there got any thoughts or clever suggestions on how to solve it?
