I'm looking to return to the fold so to speak and get another Elise.I sadly sold my last one in 2007 just before our son was born, however he's now three and likes daddy to go fast...biggrin (anything above 40 seems fast to him)

Anyway i've had a look around mainly at S2's as my old S1 I always found a tad difficult to get out of...

So a few questions...

I'll have around £11k to spend, are there many decent ones about at that as i'm not seeing many???Perhaps i'm looking in wrong places? (here and e-bay mainly)

Also what's with all the UK cars advertised in Holland??rolleyes

Finally is the old adage that summer months increase prices still true or is the current UK market more stable?

Sorry for all the questions

Cheers
Bryn

I had one of the very first S1s in 1996 (vin #...111). Loved it, but then went down the 'Caterham' route for 10 year, with 911s as my day to day cars. Still had a soft spot for the Elise but thought it was a bit soft and compromised.

However, circumstances dictated I re-visit the Elise and eventually bought a 2008 1.8'S'. And very impressed. Lots of the original qualities are still there but with improved practicality, build quality and conveniences.

A few tweeks are recommended - better exhaust and brakes (research recommended 2bular exhaust system and CL 5 pads) and a good geo set up. Result is a fantastic little toy - perfect for fun blats, track days and comfortable enough for longer trips.

First Elise was great, but this is even better.

You would get a very top end S1 for that much money or a sheddy/leggy 03 / 04 k series S2.

They are what they are, so if you found anS1 difficult and have got older, stiffer and greyer maybe you really want something a bit more sanitised and sensible like a Cayman or even an Audi TTRS. Apparently they are quite quick when you get over 60 and nice if you can get over the woodenness asnd gayness of one.

seloc.org is a great source of info and cars in classifieds. I sold my S1 when we had our first child, got back into another one over 3 years ago and have not looked back. I bought a 111R, but there are lots of options at cheaper levels. You can certainly buy an S2 for that money, you may want to try for a short roof for convenience, and preferably buy a known car. Seloc will be invaluable for all info you need
