...and I'd appreciate a bit of advice!

I've spent the winter looking at Elises, researching Elises, boring my girlfriend about Elises and finally driving Elises. Finally at the weekend I tried a 111R and knew immediately that this was my next car. I'm hoping to pick it up on Saturday and I'm as pleased as punch!

I'm hoping that can help me with a few questions I have. The sales chap told me that there wasn't any point putting super unleaded in it as it runs just as well on 95 RON. Do any of you run a 111R on the posh stuff, and can you tell a difference? If so, what's your preferred brand?

I've also been looking at subtle upgrades for the future and am a little lost in a sea of exhausts. I'm hoping to attend a number of trackdays in it and don't fancy changing the exhaust every time. It looks like the Bell & Colvill and 2bular exhausts are the ones to go for but are they OK for everyday use?

I've also been looking at cold air induction- how much of a difference do they actually make?

Sorry that my first post in this forum is a bundle of questions but after spending whole weekends looking at a myriad of sites I've not found any definative answers to the petrol and exhaust issues!

First off welcome and hope you enjoy your new car, we all enjoy pics of a new pride and joy.
Mine is Toyota engined model, but was told the same regards to petrol as not a stressed engine, so the petrol won't make a difference.
Around the forums the 2bular exhaust seems to get very good reviews, and from what I understand they can be made to sound exactly how you want it too.

Hope this helps.

According to someone on SELOC who asked Lotus, the official answer is;

" The 2ZZ engine uses a single knock sensor, which will take protective action in the event of knock detection. However, use of fuel with a RON of less than 95 is not recommended, and fuels higher than 97 RON will offer no significant benefit. "

97RON is the basic minimum for super unleaded. I'd take that as meaning that anything above super is of no benefit.
