So, I've got the Exige S 240pp, I've got the 2Bular exhaust system ( cats back ), & I've got the the TRD air filter.

Question is, without falling foul of noise Nazis at track days, & without the need for other major mechanicals, is there anything I can do to improve my exhaust noise??

I had a 111R with a stage 2 Lotus exhaust system which sounded great, not to noise so I fitted a Pipercross VIS induction kit,
this made a significant difference to the noise, but only when you're driving a little enthusiastically.

Cheers for the input boys.

I've been told that my new 2bular zorst will get better sounding as it beds in. I've only done about 350 miles on it since newly fitted. Does this sound right??

Well if you really want more noise... get rid of the sewing maching in the back and put in a VHPD

Hi, yes the exhaust sound will improve over time. Did you get a 2bular 4-1 manifold as well? I had a 4-2-1, sports cat and Lotus Stage 2 on my Elise R with Pipercross induction. It had a lot of character at all RPM (although droned at motorway speed) but was way too LOUD for me (setting off car alarms and upsetting other motorists when overtaking on the second cam. As for passing noise regs for trackdays...no chance. I'm now going to buy a quieter (7x24 possibly) 2bular in the hope that I can retrieve some of the character of the previous set-up but at a lower volume.

That's interesting. I didn't get the manifold, just the rear section.

I'm now wondering whether i should have got more.

I've heard about the sports cats. Any good?

Personally, I would give your current set-up a few more miles to mature. My (limited) understanding of the sports cat is that it improves the flow of the exhaust gases therefore improving the response of the engine while still keeping the emissions within limits. The sports cat on my car (not 2bular) didn't manage the last part very well and the car failed its MOT. I have a standard manifold and cat now and my impression is that a lot of the previous character is lost, the engine does not rev as freely and it sounds a bit wheezy/droney. Sooooo yes you will get more noise with a sports cat. Will the car pass noise/emission tests? Couldn't say.

Get rid of the CAT Simon and you'll not only get more noise but flames too smile
Just bear in mind you'll need to fit one for your MOT - mine only just got through this year with its sports CAT fitted.

Yep,give it some miles to bed in. Once it got a bit coked up mine sounded better smile
Mind you even an 8" system with a TRD is pretty loud, are you slightly deaf by any chance? :P

Hey, i just fitted the same set up about a week ago - 100 cell sports cat and 2x22" system, i have done about 300 miles and have to say the noise when under full chat is immense, very LOUD!! i certainly wouldn't want it any louder.. I have been noticing more and more burbling and popping on the overrun which has me grinning like a little kid... Give it a little time and see what happens - there's nothing worse than having a set up that is too loud and becomes a total pain in the ass...

It's simple you need to trade it in, and buy a TVR

Buy an S1 with de-cat and Lotus Sports exhaust. I had a K & N and 2bular 6.5" x 18" on my Elise and it was quiet by comparison.

Ha ha, cheers for the advice mate!!

At least there'll be no noise flags for me any more. Means I can keep my foot in round Donny & keep those pesky GT3s at bay ;-)

From my research and experience, the 2bular exhaust with 4-2-1 manifold and sports cat is widely regarded as the best investment to achieve a refined noise and performance benefit. There are various options depending on how loud you want to be and the TRD airbox will increase this further.
