HI All,

I am looking at buying an Exige S in the near future and was wondering is the sport pack essential. I hope to do a couple of track days with it but predominantly it will be used on the road.

Any advice greatly appreciated plus any buying tips

Thanks
Denis

I deemed it a very useful 'nice to have' when I was going through the same process as you as I expected I'd want harnesses for track use at some point. If I was purely looking for one for road use, I wouldn't bother.

Glad I did as it was an easy job whe I installed them last month with the seats and harness bar all ready for them, though I use the normal intertia reel belts for everyday driving. The Probax sport seats could give better lateral support tbh so I wouldn't be that into using the inertia reel belts on track.

As for the other bits in the sport pack, I'm sure they'd be pretty hand too (though I've not bothered fiddling with the ARB yet).

Hi Arun

Thats what I was thinking as well that I could add harnesses later. I know I want the touring pack as well, should I be to concerned about mileage?

Not overly concerned, i don't think. As always, making sure servicing was kept up and signs that the car was looked after during it's life (whatever the mileage), would be a good route to take.

Touring pack seems to be the highest priority on most people's list, but tbh my non-touring works just fine as my daily driver. Things like ipod connection was easily sorted and i don't mind the cloth seats, as long as they were ready for harnesses I was a happy man!

Just make sure it has air con as it gets hot inside and if you put the windows down it gets very noisy!

Air con is unreliable, needs work often!! Personally I open the window to hear the noise smile

Thanks for the tip I have been told not to get one without A/C because it gets a little warm. I was speaking to someone the other day who used to look after the Exige track cars and mentioned a few problem area's such as.

Bottom engine mount can break
Water leaking in to the boot
Wheel bearing failure

Are there any other issues I should check for. Sorry for all the questions

I can't imagine not having aircon in mine, even if just to demist the front screen.

Hi Dave, you must have a better exhaust than mine did as all I could hear when I was at speed with the windows down was wind noise ! (mine was 240 cup on its standard No1 sports ex. from lotus). Although I could hear the exhuast noise when driving around to 30mph or so in town with the windows down!
