Fuel level sensor low. Circuit A ???
Discussion
The code is an odd one. Assuming you read it from the engine ecu, the fuel level signal would have to go to the engine ecu before it could log a code for it. Does it go to the engine ecu?
If it is a genuine code it would be best to check where the problem is before buying a sender unit. They would not be cheap.
One possibility, I have seen a similar code description before where a fuel trim code was logged and because the fuel level was low it included this in the code description. In that case the car was CAN and would have had access to the level signal. On some code readers descriptions can leave a lot to be desired.
What was the code number?

Sorry haven't got the number but 10 mins prior to the MIL coming on I had just brimmed the tank. It was very low before I made it to the garage.
However the light is now off so I am even more confused by this. Do I have an issue or was it just a case of really low on fuel so sender unit got in a tiz?

I had an identical problem last year - MIL came on, and when I took the car to the workshop, Lotus Scan brought up a fuel level sensor code. I hadn't recently filled up, nor was the fuel level low, and the fuel gauge was still showing the correct level.
My initial thought was also that the sensor was on the blink, but as it is such an unusual error code, it was suggested that we simply re-set the ECU and see if it recurs; thus far, it hasn't (touch wood). Apparently, if the sensor does need changing, it's not too big of a job, but the tank does have to come out. IIRC, it can be dropped straight out from under the car?
If the error has cleared, it's probably nothing to worry about, but if it comes back, it's probably worth looking into a bit further.
Hope that helps,
