Gearbox centre and speedo sticking? (Sherlock unit)

Spring is sprung,
The grass is riz,
Time to see,
If the plastic car lives...


It does. Cleaned, fired up, engine seems good, chassis feels good (compared to the barge). All good.

Except;

1) My gearbox has stopped centring on 3rd/4th. It now stays wherever you leave it. Makes 2nd -> 3rd interesting. A quick search leads me to the conclusion that this is not unusual and an elise parts gear linkage kit will sort it. Is it worth going for the short shifter at the same time?

2) The speedo sticks. 2003 111S with a sherlock display. I can reset it in the usual manner (open door, hold trip reset and turn key) and it zeros and works for a bit, but then it sticks again. The needle moves freely and everything else on the display works so I'm guessing it's possibly the sender from the wheels? Anyone else had this?

I put the gear linkage kit in, am impressed. Also did short shifter, no real
Improvement for me, shorter stick I actually find a bit more uncomfortable.
