The question is: Is my logic flawed?
I recently took an interest in getting something a bit more powerful and newer in the form of either a SC or exige s. My car is getting on 5 years old and over the past 18 months has had alot of refresh work doIng to it (over 5 k in parts and labour covering all the wheel bearings to a bad rear clam spray by the dealer getting rectified although I have only spent about 1k of that 5 total).
So I took out a 1.6 (covering the something new criteria) and was deeply underwhelmed. I thought it would be like the s I had driven 18 months earlier and I suppose in power delivery it did. By the clutch, throttle and brakes felt as though I was driving a 1.2 Clio :s. So o to the something more powerful. An SC. Core it was ruddy good. Felt like mine just fresher and with more eagerness to chase the invisible ball down the road. So at this point im sold. But here comes the rub. The apparent difference between this 08 SC (albeit with good level of spec) is 16k!?
Now I know it's a dealer car so I'm going to be taking a hit on my trade in and pay a premium for theirs but after my last experience buying a car from them and now apparently losing 6 k in the car in the time I've had it plus the other expense my logic now is to refresh the suspension and tidy the interior up then get a SC kit put on for 4 - 5 k. I'll know the history of the car and ill know what hasnt been replaced ( not much). Is my logic flawed should I get this car or something similar.
Sorry for the long post I'm on my iPhone so I cant see the size of the Post nor check spelling.
Thanks. Tom

I can see the merits of the 1.8S or 1.8R, and there's plenty of debate about which is the better. New 1.6S hasn't been so well received - emphasis seems to be on emissions and economy.
SC pushes the Elise into new territory - especially in terms of price, and again there has been debate about whether the Elise actually needs more power.
All down to personal choice, but worth trying a Boxster 3.4'S' for comparison.

It's a White sc at lotus murrays it's got the sports pack and touring plus mag alloys and was in perlecant White and other bit which I know makes it more desirable than the average sc. My plan was to put some blue stripes on it and make it look like a sports racer as I always wanted my Elise to have that look. Struggling tbh. Then there is part of me that sees a golf gti with the recaro seats as another option so I can start mtb'ing again further afield.. So choices are sc, mod current car or change to a more pratical car?

Thats up for about £27k odd isn't it?
So does that mean they've offered you £11k for your R??
I thought trade on your(06?)plate R would be around the 14-15 mark?
There's pros and cons for both cars so its worth investigating yourself before deciding.

My car is an MY54 plate with 46k on the clock. The car in question is 27.980 (or somehting like that) so not a 16 difference more like 15 but still big enough to question the value of changing and not doing the upgrading myself.
