What's the best upgrade for sound for an Exige S?

Been told, it has to be a Stage 3 system by a dealer. Is this right? Stage 2 noisier but not an option on the S.

Tubular are the ones a lot of S owners go for. Size depends on how much noise you want but I would say don;t go too noisy, it will get on your nerves after a while and will struggle on the noise tests in you are tracking it.

Cheers for this.

I'm a bit confused now though.

The main dealer I spoke to today told me you can't have a stage 2 with an Exige S. Also, the seller of that item states he's selling it to get a sports exhaust. Isn't a stage 2 a sports exhaust??

Sorry for being clueless guys.

Dealer is correct, the stage 2 only fits n/a engined cars.
The stage 3 is specific to supercharged cars(more stupid Lotus namings unfortunately).
Both are sports exhausts and both aren't particularly good quality(a friend had 5 stage 3s fail in 18 months on his SC Elise).

2bular or Larini do good quality stainless steel exhausts so have a look there.

p.s If the dealer says you'll void your warranty with an 'aftermarket' exhaust they're lying.

Cheers for this guys.

So which one gives the best sound while still passing most track day noise tests ( not bothered about the strict ones )??

Plenty of folk over on seloc that have the 8x22 - I'm sure they'd be willing to let you hear it if one is local?

I've got the 2bular 8x22 on my scura and the idle noise is the same as the original equipment. The difference is further up the rev range where the noise is much nicer than the raspy original equipment.
I only have the back box on mine at the moment but you could go for the full monty i.e. headers, down pipe and back box.

After looking into this for mine, the same recommendation was given again and again...8 x 22" 2bular.

I've been sitting on the fence as to whether I will actually go ahead with it (still need to hear one in person), but if and when I do it will definitely be via a call to Jim at 2bular. v good reputation.

Hi Si - so you're finally coming over to the dark side wink

Mine's fitted with a custom made unit to suit the SC but I know the other guy running the same kit as me had one of Jim's 2bulars and it sounded great.

Also if you have the PP and fit a TRD Air box with the 2bular you get 260HP with no need to mod the ECU smokin

I have the full 2Bular system 8x22 and 4-2-1 (fitted it myself) - it's very good. But with Jim's latest headers you really do need to have a remap becasue they are much more free flowing compared to the original spagetti mess and hence the fueling needs to be adjusted, either Factory 260 upgrade or better still a custom made to suit map.

Interested in the 2bular product. Does anyone have a contact number, I can't seem to find one.

2bular 24 x 8.

Jim is a bit hard to get hold of but worth the persistance.

Well made and sound great.

Larini is also good but tends to make youe ears bleed a bit wink

You can hear Bandit coming from the next county biggrin
