Can anybody help?
Is it a good idea to use clay on an Elise body or a real no go.

Good idea, will maek the paint work feel as smooth as glass.

Remember though that when you have done it, you will have pretty much removed all previous wax coats so will need to give it a wax.

Try Bilt Hamber clay product you an use water as the lube rather than having to use a quick detailer.

I used clay several times on my laser blue Elise S2. Quite frankly one of the best detailing products I have ever bought, great results. Just make sure you keep the paint wet while using it, and rotate the clay often to avoid sand, dirt etc. from damaging the paintwork. And as already mentioned, an immediate waxing afterwards is highly recommended.

The Meguiars product range is just ace. I have particularly good experience with the NXT Generation Tech Wax, it gives a great result from a reasonably small amount of effort, especially the one in liquid form is very easy to work with. They also have a product called something like "show-room glaze" to make it shine even more, and it does what the name says smile

Thanks for your comments.
I have Bilt Hamber clay and then Autoglym High Definition wax.
I doubt that we could ever get agreement on the "best" wax so lets not go down that avenue.
Thanks again I'll give it a go with a bit more confidence now.

Definitely worth doing... but from experience, I'd be looking to machine polish afterwards as light surface marring - even if just very light - is likely

You can see some examples on my new TTS when I did it a couple years ago http://www.autounity.net/index.php?showtopic=4581 (photos 14 - 17)
