I think there have been a few threads on SELOC about transplanting VVC engines into standard S1s, might be worth a look there.

Surely it would be easier/cheaper/simpler to sell your car and buy a 111S? And get the C/R box thrown in.

All depends how much time/money has been spent developng the existing car.

Well worth looking at options from DVA and Kiwirog (Sabre Heads) before opting for an engine transplant.
A good search through the Seloc technical threads is your friend.

I agree that might affect whether you would choose to do it that way, but the question was how hard is it to do, and I'm pretty sure my suggestion is the easiest ... smile

Agree with the DVA suggesation.

I'm not sure what the diiferences are but I've read elsewhere that the 160 engine is more difficult to fit than the earlier 143bhp vvc engines.

The engine itself should be no problem to physically fit in the car. I think the hard part will be the electrics and ECU, which isn't plug compatible with the S1 loom, so you have to do some splicing of wires to get it all to match up and working.

As Joel says, its the loom and ECU that are the main headache.
Here's a starting point for some research http://forums.seloc.org/misc.php?action=search HTH.
