I'm a newbie - to the forum, to posting...

My S2 Elise slipped off the A9 on ice just before xmas. Not ideal, on many levels. Amazing how much damage a 40mph slide into a snow drift can do to a glass-fibre body. A few questions.

Looking for a good independent mender in Scotland. A couple of the garages mentioned in the forums don't do body repairs. Would prefer to steer clear of Murrays. Any pointers gratefully received.

Am also thinking about a self repair - to be honest more for the grins than the saving of cash, (it's an insurance job anyways) but have been warned off it as being bigger than a DIY exercise in a double garage.

Damage is to the front, at the number plate mounting 'chin' and to the drivers sill. I'm assuming this will be a complete nose-cone/bonnet job..? The sill panel looks to be part bolted on and part bonded on - is this true?

Many Thanks..!

Go to Scottish Elises (www.scottishelises.com) and ask the same question.

You should get plenty of decent options.

Some will recommed Steve Walker but personally I'd steer clear.

Just wondering why you'd steer clear of Murray? They did a great job on my Esprit two years ago, replacing/spraying the front bumper, valence and grill and fitting a new fog light. Admittedly I didn't have to pay for it as it was a delivery driver who reversed into it in their own car park after they had just finished servicing it!

Anyhow, I was very pleased with the fit and finish, particularly the paint work. Even though I never asked for it, they even went round the back and fixed a couple of runs in the light panel which had been there since the conversion was done years ago.
