111R Heater Fan - hopefully slightly different issue
Discussion
So the Heater fan in my 111R stopped working Monday night after hitting a fairly significant pot hole on the A34. It has done this once before, but started working again 5-10mins later.
The hope is I have a lose connection rather than the usual water damage to the "thingy" that I know usual causes this. (It was replaced by Lotus under warranty and the necessary corrective action to prevent reoccurance some yrs ago)
So the question is, what could be the cause, if it is not water damage. Does one specific fuse control this, but nothing else. How easy is it to determine if it is the "thingy", without taking the clam off to confirm ?
All suggestions appreciated.

There are fuses, fuses do degrade over time and can and will blow. Check the fuses, refer to the manual.
Sorry to say it but it is not a case of "if" but "When"

Well its bad news, or at least its news that means the clam has to come off to investigate further, so its bad in the sense of expensive.
Will have to wait now until Summer when I can get some money to fix whatever it is thats broken.
So the next question is, with the Front Clam coming off, what else should I be looking at doing ? Its a base 111R, no A/C and no mods carried out on it to date

Check the rad, Lotus ones have a habit of springing a leak from the end caps. Small thing, get an alloy tow hook fitted, stops the rusty bit always develops and is very small cost. Will have to wait now until Summer when I can get some money to fix whatever it is thats broken.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.
As Dave says absolutely get the rad checked out whilst the clam is off and your resistor pack checked or replaced.
When I had my MOT done just before Xmas the garage said I should think about changing the rad this year as it will be 6 years and the end caps are known to fail.
Two weeks after Xmas the rad blew . . . . New rad, new air con rad and new resistor pack. EUR1,600 surprise just after Xmas.

It's worth a quick check of the switch at the dash, the wiring can come loose and is known not to be 100% from the factory. That would seem to fit with your symptoms. Burnouts tend to come with a bit of burny smell from the vents...
A screw either side of the switch panel and waggle it out...a loose connection should then be obvious.
