S1's don't support OBD (as in std OBD)as said though, usually the rear left wheel speed sensor has either become damaged (or the wiring to it) or has moved too far away from the CV mounted ABS relucter ring.

kambites, no the speed/distance meter does not work either, so is if not the wheel sensor can it be the gearbox switch, or speedo itself?
gearbox is not used, it runs of the rear left wheel.if you pull the wheel off, then the brake disk, it's in-front of the upright, you can't miss is.
it's supposed to have a 0.5 to 1mm clearance to the (toothed) ABS ring on the CV
PROBLEM SOLVED!!
was indeed the wheel sensor, the two cables weren't connected.. must of fell out whilst driving, my electrician soldered them back.. was a bit of a mission but got it done eventually, thanks guys for your help especially scuffers your a legend mate, you ought a be a lotus mechanic hehe
