Thought I'd help spread the word about this heinous act, so close to Xmas too - not that there is a good time for this to happen to anyone!

http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=288155&...

It's a fairly distinctive looking car - hope it gets recovered soon.

I have heard of thieves breaking into house and nicking car keys and car, usually to put the stolen TV in but not the case this time.

If you can be bothered worth putting the car keys in a reasonable hiding place each night.

Pretty distinctive car so hopefully he will get it back.

The trouble is that it's better in many ways if they can take the car without them having to come and "ask" for the keys. Plenty of very unpleasant stories like that. Catch 22.

yes I'd happily leave the keys on a hook just inside the front door if it meant they just take the car. Cars can be replaced, people can't.

Hope it turns up, but personally I'd just be thankful that I wasn't in the house at the time.

Always leave the keys where they're easy to find: if some scrote is going to break into your house to take car keys why would you want you house trashing at the same time?

They can royaly fked if they think I am going to make any aspect of stealing my car easy! Didn't come easy to me. Between the dog attached to thier nuts and an angry fat bloke standing on thier throat, the alarms and tracker on the car, they can beg for the police.

Make it easy for them in case they make a mess in the house ?!?!? Only I make a mess in my house. !

Well said that man.
I too would quite like to see pooch making a meal of a scumbags nuts before I "had to defend myself".

Fu**ing right! Anyone breaking into my house while my family are at home are there to hurt me and my family.

They will need a undertaker and I'm not trying to act big either

I always laugh when people say things like that on PH, will you use your keyboard to batter the thieves with?

I'm not sure you'll think the same when you come home to find the back door kicked off its hinges, the dog a cowering a wreck having been given a kicking and your house turned upside down: they weren't after car keys in our case but a proper burglary is pretty unpleasant.

A friend of mine got hospitalised for two months with a brain injury after being boshed on the head with a hammer for the keys to an RS4.

They're only cars FFS.

Guys,

I’ve been burgled,

I’m not a keyboard warrior either. Just stating fact’s, I've got a very long story which I'm not going to bother typing as we all have our own ideas of what's acceptable behaviour, false, and what's un-reasonable.

Needless to say I'd rather have a go, many people I know have just handed stuff over and got a right Kicking for their trouble. I’m not that sort of guy, ask anyone on here who’s actually met me.

Maybe you're the exception, but I'm sure that 99% of people who post that they would attack and possibly unleash VBRJ on the burglar would actually just cower & comply with requests for keys.

In terms of defending yourself, your family and your property I’m with Boggy on that one. Just make sure if you are confident in your own abilities to tackle a burglar that you have a quick refresher of your ‘Common Law’ powers re using a pre-emptive strike to defend yourselves or others. Just DO NOT let the red mist descend, only use force that is reasonable to stop the threat. You may have to justify the force used to the cop or judge later on.

The simplest way of preventing some of the horror stories detailed above happening to yourself is to make your car that little bit more difficult to take than one down the street. Selfish I know but it will genuinely work. If you have a garage use it. If you park your car on the drive then get a bollard fixed into the drive. It may be a pain to have to remove it but it is an excellent deterrent. Try going to a local steel fabricator and get one made up to your own spec as the ones from National chains of motoring stores aren’t the best.

Sermon over.

Take care and have a happy petrol fuelled New Year.

I have a Law Degree;)

Your 100% right, I always garage my Lotus in fact I'd put money on it that only 3 - 4 family's on my street know I even own one, I don't drink locally or even go out locally as I'm relatively new to the area (5 Year’s), I tend to go out where I used to come from and to be honest I quite like the fact that no one really knows me where I live, keep things under your hat so to speak
