Drove past a silver/grey S2 wedged into the side of the road near Ticknall, south of Derby at about 5pm today, several BiB at the scene, looked like a write-off for the Elise as most of the front clam was battered but thankfully there didn't seem to be any damage to the pax area. I didn't witness the event so don't know what happened or to whom but I was glad to be in my 4wd golf as I had the baby in the back. Roads conditions are pretty challenging for Elise drivers out there so hopefully everyone is being careful.

Of course its a good idea to be sensible but these cars are not difficult to drive safely. I drove 200 miles cross country not touching a motorway on Friday departed at 05:50, when I arrived at destination (a Lotus specialist) I had a comment along the lines of ' bet that wasn't much fun', in actual fact I hadn't been hanging about and the car felt really quite planted. You just need to keep attention to the road surface and adjust speed etc should you see ice.

That time of year again! I hope we don't see as many 'crashed in bad weather' threads as we saw last year. I still maintain however, that this is the best place to get advice.

I'm sat in souhanpton airport where it's freezing but bone dry outside, however apparently in Edinburgh its thrown 5" of snow down over the weekend so even when I do get up I won't be going for any roof off fun frown

You've got appropriate tyres on your car though haven't you Herman.

Wouldn't want to be on A048s in these temps and certainly not if there's ANY ice on the road.

Yes, KU31's at the moment. Time and a place for R888's etc and it's not this time of year. I said to someone on the vxoc that although R888's make the car idiot proof in good weather you'd be better of on regular tyres in the winter, got met with the I'm amazing I can handle them fine crap - I think since then they have binned it. Perhaps I should have said provided you don't have track summer tyres on your car its fine.

It's even better with proper winter tyres but I've said enough on this topic… wink
