Sticking speedo on S1
Discussion
Could be the sender near the rear nearside wheel. I have just rewired the sender on my wife's S1 - 5 years old.
You will need to remove the wheel to see it. The wire comes from inside the engine bay, along the wishbone to the hub. It attaches to the sender at a strange angle which, in my case, caused the wire to break.

Sounds like the needle is sticking (Doh !) . . . unlikely to be the sender . . . Stacks are fairly cr@p in terms of reliability unfortunately, and dismantling them can be difficult without breaking the front glass.
I'd try taking it to someone who's good at taking things to bits without breaking them and asking them to have a go, OR leave it alone . . .

Sorry for laughing but I can just imagine it, someone having a degree in 'Taking things to bits without breaking them!' I know what you mean though mate Maybe I'm just strange for picking up on it
