Waahey lads n lasses, it's Easter Weekend, 2 free days off which I still get paid for and hopefully some sunshine....

This could be the weekend I have a go at getting the hardtop off and fiddle with the soft top using the manual as a guide . Assuming all goes ok I'm WELL excited about my first roof off blat!

Any tips for a newbie about to lose his cherry with the soft top? Is it really as much of a horse-ar5e as some people make out!?

Tim

P.S. either way I wish you all a weekend of sunny, dry roads and happy Lotus'ing! Wave if you see me whizzing round Kent and E Sussex!

Soft top - don't rush it the first time and make sure it's properly centered. There's a tab on the soft top lip that matches a recess in the windscreen rail.

Enjoy your weekend Tim, and everybody else.

lose your cherry with the roof off? Well she needs to be nimble. At least you've realised you can't do it with the softtop on (unless you are both pigmys).

Hmmm, will give that a go and let you know how I get on too... I love this "sharing is caring" approach we have on PH!

Dont even bother with the soft top. If it's not raining take the hard top off, put on the roll bar cover, screw the arse off the car then put the hard top back on.

The car feels sooooo much better with the roof off. Enjoy.

No driving for over 2 weeks for me

As I will be in America and the Bahamas / Virgin Islands

Take a roll of kitchen towel - I got bombed by two lots of wood pigeons last year.

And like thub said, don't rush it. Just take your time and be gentle. The first time you get the wind in your hair it is quite a shock but you get used to that.

Make sure the lugs for the soft top are properly seated or you'll scratch the bodywork - it's not fiddly once you know what you're doing.

Putting the roof on an S1 is like making love to a beautiful woman

and if it's really cold take the back window out as well, then you get a nice heating effect from the engine....

I tend to rely on heat soak when stopping at lights to warm my ears...

Probably the best day out I've had that I can remember...

Getting the hood on and off is a doddle really - did it 2 or 3 times today to get used to it and once you get the thing lined up properly at the front it's all academic from that point on!

And how did I enjoy roof off blasts... well I came back home at 4pm, put the roof on, stepped in the house, the sun broke through the clouds again and I just couldn't not go out, get it off again and go out for another hour. Roll on Summer!
