Hey guys......
Whats the current state of play regarding elise prices?
I'm looking at a '99 111S with 20K miles for 15K, is this resonable?
In addition, is 20K too many miles and would I have a problem selling by the time I put another 15K or so on it, making it 35K?
Thanks for your help
Paul

20k too many miles? well your be hard pressed to get one much lower without paying a fortune for it, £15k is about right, but have you seen the nautilus blue one i've flaged up in my post?
mmmmm a 5 year old car with 20K miles on it !! 4K miles per year...Id be worried that its been owned by GJOBS...lots of polishing and no driving means that all the niggles and fixes that should have been done might not have !
...Id much prefer an enthusiast owned car thats sorted
price is about right though
ps - I reckon avg miles for an Elise is 5-10K per year as a 2nd car
pps - mines 18 months old with 40K on the clock if you are interested

Values are still holding up well then - Mine is also a 111S and has (now) done those kind of miles, yet despite being bought from a dealer, if its worth 15k its only lost a grand and a bit in a year. Its worth more than that though as its the best colour combination - titanium with red hood and red leather!
BUT!!! I am thinking about taking it to a 'specialist' rather than Lotus because A) they are just over HALF!! the price, B) my local Lotus dealer didn't spot something they REALLY should have when I complained about difficulty changing gear (the clutch slave cylinder was leaking - 40 miles later it packed up completely after they 'didn't find anything' and I'm just not sure they do a very good job.
Will this affect re-sale prices drastically and do you think a specialist would be able to do a decent job? (they are only simple cars after all)
Not that I'd get rid of mine either...

can't make my mind up if this is a good buy or not in comparison to the above......umm black leather, not sure?, low miles though
sold my 99 S1 with 21k on the clock, sports exhaust, hurricane, EBC brakes, MP3/CD and sub-amp for £12750 recently.
Nothing wrong with 'low milage', bought that car at three years old with 9000 on the clock and it was a fantastic car. I wouldn't pay 15k for one though, dealers offered me 10.5k part-ex against a brand new 111S - gits!!
