s2 421 manifolds
Discussion
Hi
Sounds like we are after the same thing.......after toying with the idea of going down the honda route, I have decided to tweak the k series with some Cams, head work etc etc.
I have a post on Seloc requesting recommendations on 421 Manifolds - general consensus seems to be that they are all pretty much do the same things and its down to personal preference and how much you want to spend.
quite a few people have got Janspeed and Piper and are happy with them, some small issues with Piper where the pipes are touching and causing it to "tizz" but seems a limited issue which Piper are looking into.
I was going to go for a Larini manifold as have Club sport silencer already but too be honest I think i am going to go for the Elise Parts Big Bore manifold - not cheap but looks really good quality and was recommended by Dave Andrews (DVA Power) to make the most of the heads/cams etc.

Hi,
yes done some digging myself,i thought of just dropping in a vvc, and if you can get a cheap complete one is a nice 143/160 bhp,a biggish job though. So im back to cams and exhaust, i thought on getting a piper but must confess the ebd /eliseparts looks class and easier to fit with it being in sections, you say its a big bore which for just cams and exhaust might be too big for my mods ,i think the smaller 35mm bores are good for 170bhp which until i take the head off will do me.i used to have a piper on my s1 and it was not brill on the flange to head and it blew so i had to mod it a bit to get it to seal.

Hi
did wonder about that re big bore versus Small bore - but it came recommended from DVA so I guess he knows what hes talking about ;-)
Will double check though if not I'll prob go for the Janspeed small bore.
Had a chat with both DVA and Sabreheads re the work for mine - think i;m looking at getting close to 170 with head/cams/verniers/TF160 pistons and emerald ECU - toyed with the idea of going for the Jenvery TBs to get a little bit more but dont really want to intrude or make alterations to the boot space.
Be interested to see which route you go

At the moment with 2 small children, the route i hope to take is this,cams/verniers/421 manifold/sports exhaust/induction kit, this i hope will make it a bit more fruity to drive(130/40 bhp),then if head gasket goes ill get the head ported/flowed and transfer the cams(150/60bhp) which is about max for standard ecu/ engine.
