My apologies if this has already been posted.
Basically the Elise hit a bin lorry & the rest is history so they say.
It happened in Yarm N Yorks. The driver was unhurt thankfully.
Please excuse the picture quality.

Why do you assume it was his fault?

HI guys.

That'll be whats left of my pride and joy.
It certainly wasn't my fault. Have a read of this accout which has actual witness statements
http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/8428220.Driv...

THe thing came at me from nowhere, if I hadn't reacted and managed to pull a little to the kirb I reckon he'd have gone right over the top of me.

I'm in a world of pain with a severely busted shoulder but miraculously i came away with no broken bones and I got myself out of the car.
Air ambulance doc couldn't believe I'd got out myself and said that they were expecting the worst when they flew over and saw the scene.

Needless to say I'm resting with the laptop on looking for my next one.
I'm thinking Sport Racer if I can find one at the right price when the insurance comes through.

Anyway, don't believe what you read in the papers.
I didn't loose it, I wasn't driving too fast or stupidly either. Just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Cheers
Heeed

P.S. I'm pretty sure I owe my life to the fantastic engineers at Lotus. A lesser car would have just smashed to bits in the same circumstances.

Glad to hear you're OK, my other half is from that neck of the woods and I know the road well.

What the h@// happened, the car is completely crushed, you're very lucky indeed.

Hope you're fully recovered soon and that you get back in a Lotus asap.

Regards, Neil

Did i say it was his own fault?

No matter who or what caused it, your pride will always be dented & that's what i meant.

I guess the impact is in the wrong direction for what its intended to do. Take a tubular bit of metal and drop it on its end and not a lot will happen. Whack it side on in the middle and its going to bend or split.

Those lorries are bloody heavy, imagine it would travel through most things.

Rather that than an MX-5 style hoop at least laugh
