Unfortunately the Europa got shunted by a volve in the rear this morning. Looks like rear clam and exhaust system. I am getting the car to Brooke Kensignton as Simon is the best but anyone got any experience of what I should look out for?

BTW love the new Lotus range, I will have one of each please.

cheers

The 3 month lead time to get a new clam will be the worst thing about all this.....

I guess the other thing to watch out for is to make sure the engine mountings and braces have been thoroughly checked.

For various reasons, there can be some resonance if its not 'tuned' properly.

I have it, to a certain degree, when I lift off the throttle 'at speed' - but its not a show stopper and is a good reminder that I may have been pressing too hard on the noisy pedal.

I've got moulds for the rear clam so I can make you one on a MUCH shorter lead time. Also, I have a new exhaust design ready to do if you need that and up-rated engine mounts that can be made in a variety of stiffnesses if they need replacement. Let me know if we can help.

thanks guys. The engine mount vibration is a worry I do have as mine vibrates sometimes now when I lift off. I believe this is a tolerance thing so we will have a good check and get new if there is any issue.

Randy I was thinking of going for your exhaust system. the Miltek is ok but it does blow. What is the difference on yours?

I am also thinking that with the rear clam off it would be a good time to do some other 'little' mods, such as chargecooling....again I will ring to discuss Randy.

Simon has taken the car now and does not think it looks too bad.....fingers crossed now.

cheers

Very happy to help with all those things Christian. Other thing to mention, the clam is in two sections and if you have been hit at the back it's likely just the bottom section has been damaged and we could give you just that section as opposed to a whole clam from Lotus if that helps.

Our exhaust is better than the Miltek in every way, first one is being tested in a race this weekend and I'll have some pics in the very near future.

Hi Randy

there is a crack is the top section as well where it has creased so not sure if this will be repaired or not, fingers crossed I will get away with it. Must admit if you have a mould I am tempted to 'borrow' it and do a carbon clam. I have plenty of contacts, the only down side I can see is I will end up doing the whole car smile

Besides the exhaust system I am thinking it would be good to fit the carge cooler, just depends if jobs can be combined. Will try and ring tomorrow.

cheers

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Simon at BK is brill as you will probably know so it'll be fixed in no time at all. If you go down there say hello to my poorly S2.
