Hmmm, look great but way too good to be true, especailly the specs, they look like they've been made up by some child with wishful thinking.

Apart from the styling I'm not liking, they don't look 'lightweight' to me anymore. Also, they don't look affordable to me anymore. I always thought those two things were most important for people who drove a Lotus.

Did some spanner just call the Elise a "city car"?

It is very beautiful and I am filled with a desire to own...

Lotus cars don't have to be made of fresh air, it's not set in tablets of stone. I think we get carried away with the lightweight issue. Its important but not that important.

Lotus's in recent yeas have been for 'normal' incomes but the company can't survive that way. This is the future.

ah, indeed its the Elite...I saw it on youtube video here all 4 beauty's

I like the Elan and Elite, also the Esprit...I think the first 2 will sell good, now no longer the Elise is their car, the Elise could not see so well, but you can see its their base model, so strategy looks ok.

here the lotuses

Fark me the last white one in the video looks stunning, such a shame I can't afford anew lotus anymore due their decision on pricing. Oh well better just enjoy some slow depreciation then!

man oh man forget what i said about not being able to afford a new one i have four years to start saving, sweet jesus i like the look of the new elise. a little concerned about what looks like a fixed roof but im sure that will be sorted as would then leave open the door for the exige.

any one have any guesses on prices? also does anyone know where i can get an image of the elise to use as my new wallpaper?

cheers for any help and have a good day.

My two cents... amazing, pure excitement , first time I have felt that about a new car in ages, and the fact they are all Loti... well thats just the icing on the cake.

As regards the peeps complainging about weight, I agree thats its been a guiding principal of Lotus over the years but so has been the constant jibes from buyers that are not total enthusiasts complaining about poor build quality and relaiability etc...

If lotus want to move the brand onwards not to mention the increased crash saftey regs etc for a relatively mainstream manufacturer (compared to the Ariel/Noble's of this world) this is the only direction Lotus could take

If you still hanker over a ultra light weight cars there are plenty to choose from. I couldn't see Lotus existing for very long turning out 23k, 750kg elises's for 30 years and expect to sell ever more cars each year (the goal of any business!!). Notwithstanding think about the inevitible "lightweight" versions of most of the above models in the same vein as GT3's that will appear as that seems to be the way forward to satisfy the hardcore and masses in one go.

I for one cant wait to own one, and applaud Lotus, a new Elan gets my vote, not in that yellow though! 4 yrs to save... done!!

I'm no car designer, but while being pretty and striking cars, they don't look like very original designs to me - too many pinched influences from Lambo Gallardo's, Ferrari coupes and dare I say it, the front of a Nissan GT-R in one instance etc?
