Seen it in the flesh, should have been called the S2 Coupe in my opinion. Opportunity missed/opportunity gained? - make up your own opinion, will be keeping the S1, racecar 4 the road rather than S2 roadcar for the road..

Autocar came to the same conclusion. Elise Coupe... not Exige.

Still nice car though but at £30k... a few grand more than the 111R... not worth it in my opinion.

One of the guys on the BCBBS who has had an S1 Exige drove the S2 and said it was a phenominal car and given the choice he would swap his S1 like a shot.

I agree that it does not have the same visual impact as the S1 though.

Saw about 6 of them parked in a row at Donnington and they are the dogs dangalies.

That was them mate. I have never seen a car with as many stone chips on the front clam as the Norfolk Mustard one. Made me feel ok about the state of mine.

Which one was yours? the Cobalt blue one was mint and looked absolutely amazing. One of them had a different engine cover that looked good as well.

It's not surprising that after looking at those I walked straight passed the Black S2 Exige inside. It just does not have that 'what the hell is that?' factor to it.

Davey, mine was the new ali, S1 EXG - got to fly the flag!!! - Thought the Chrome Orange S2 Exige looked soooo much better than the black examples.

C Giles T no I havn't driven it yet.. Testing one next week, driven a 111R - ok, but far too civilised.. Clarkson is a total t*sspot in my honest opinion and can't drive for toffee. S2 Exige visually is an 111r with a roof costing £2k more. Take your choice.

It weighs 100kg more than my S1 exige (producing similar bhp) so I don't expect too many passing me on trackdays . May I suggest you try a S1 Exige also and also the AO48s fitted to the S2 last approx 3k miles on the rear when driven in enthusiastic mode

That was me. It was our old car in this month's Evo.
The new one is better, there's no getting away from it.
Above 6000rpm it feels almost exactly the same as the old. May not look so racecarish, but it goes just as well. Drove it on track as well and it was great.

I wouldn't pay the £10k to change though. It's aimed more at those people who find the old one's low rev spluttering and excessive noise too much to live with.

Unless you are into the open top posing thing then I really don't see any point in buying the 111R.

Convertible cars aren't all about posing, you know?

I know
Just that so many people moan about the old Exige roof not coming off I like to wind them up because they sound like it is the most important thing about a performance car and treat you lie some kind of leper for not removing the roof when the sun comes out.

I should have copyrighted my photos!

I had the car for 4 days, there's a review of the drive on SELOC (albeit I was running it in!), went up a day before Autocar came out, and pretty much the same conclusions were drawn.

I have a Nitroned car, that said it is by far and away the best car I driven on bendy public roads (and that includes the Exige S1).

Trying it on the track next a Bedford.

Woah! Pat, you've swapped your 111SC for an Exige 2?

If you are at Bedford this Saturday, pleeeeease could I have blag a couple of passenger laps with you?

Pretty please!?

Not quite! Castle lent the car to me/SELOC for our stand at the Donny Show. All the cars were Chrome Orange (we were supported by Tango!) bar the Lotus Lada.

The Castle Exige as you see it may well be at Bedford on Saturday... we definetely have one at the Bedford day on 31st May for people to have a go in both PAX and driving.

Mark I got my copy of Evo yesterday and wondered if that was your car when they mentioned the owner as 'Mark'

Did you get a ride with Gavan Kershaw around Hethel?
