Just hypothetically...
If you found yourself needing a new engine in an S1 and didn't want to blow 10k on a Honda conversion - which engine would you go for?

- rebuild with some DVA help?
- stick a VVC in?
- look for a VHPD on eBay?
- something else I haven't thought of?

thats about he sweet spot for £ to performance ratio IMO

over 160 spec and you are into thousands more for DTHTBs/ECU etc

option 2 is the easiest solution that's low risk, option 1 is also good, but will cost to cover the bases properly, and can never be without some risk, option 3 is just asking for trouble.

DIY 2.0 Duratec kit. You keep the gearbox and driveshafts from the K and in standard tune makes around 170-180bhp.

Find another non-VVC k-series and put that in.

Sadly I have very little spare time to fit stuff.
If it was genuinely a weekend job the maybe - otherwise it would be absolutely a no go.
Does anyone sell a DIY kit yet?

The T-series conversion has always struck me as being cheap but fun... if a bit pikey.
Any opinions?

I met a lad last year from CLOG who has a T-series conversion in an S1. Sounded good and went well - what's not to like?

If your after such an engine, I have one for sale. 118bhp K series from a S1 88k miles FLSH and currently resides in Henley, since the Honda was dropped into mine.
Open to sensible offers
