Yokohamas A048's on std S2 wheels?
Discussion
I am in need of changing my boots on my Elise S2 Type 25,K series engine, the tyres are the standard Bridgestones and will require the change very soon.
I would like to fit Yoko A048's but I am led to believe they may not fit that well,is this true?Elise Parts say they should be fine.I only use the car for fun so I don't commute to work in it or anything.
Elise Parts have them in stock and I'm ready to order them but before I do am I making a BIG MISTAKE?
Any help would be really appreciated.Thanks.
Here are tyre the details:

Why do you want 48s? Are you planning on tracking the car? Have you upgraded your toe links and suspension to suit them if yes on the tracking front? If just road use, then yes imho you are making a mistake, especially heading into winter.
Have you considered AD07s? They'll slot straight on, no sizing issues (A048s are a bit wide at the front for your standard wheels), and are a better all round tyre for road and some track use.

Our Stef is right! I have a Type 25 SC and for what I do, I'm better off without 48's. I got through three set of rears in 12 months, and I don't track, so I swapped them all for Toyo T1r's, best thing I did, and they are cheaper, the only thing I don't like about the T1r's is the smell of the compound, it's ok when driving but they stink the garage out. Anyway, I recomend those and keep away from 48's for now.
I think on track you'd have more fun initially with more road based tyres - they let go a bit sooner and give you some warning, whereas when 48s let go all at once ime, and at much higher speeds. You can move the car around much more easily on AD07s for example.
You'll find that 48s are too wide for your std front wheels - some people will say you can still fit them, but I would advise buying some different wheels if you really want them.

As above it's not the best use of your money..... 48's designed to work with uprated suspension and extra loads so depends on your set up.
Team Dynamic wheels are quite reasonable and will be safer for the wider front tyres - people were circa £550-600. I have a set on std rims - some do run them but always made me nervous.....
Also I prefer toyo 888's last longer and better vfm but supply isn't great at the mo....
