Just as I was getting excited, I read, "Set for release in 2014".

They'll be doing well to maintain the hype for four years!

Looks much more like what the Evora should have been.

Would love to see just a HINT of Lotus DNA in the design because right now there is none.... mind you... the original Esprit/Eclat/Excel/Elite (wedge) were a departure too.... And Ferrari often release new models that owe SFA to their heritage and they seem to do okay.

Game on! Looks brill!

concept is good, power, weight, price 2+2 with folding roof etc ....just looks a bit Japanese to me...if Toyota or Honda had done it, wouldnt have bat an eyelid at the styling, but it dosent look Lotus to me

/maybe thats the point

Got a bit of RX8 at the front IMO. Perhaps this is going to be the new 'family' look??

They absolutely *must* get this right, in all aspects. If they succeed it would be a fantastic 'halo' car for the brand, if they don't....

I'd expect that to be the point and then start a complete new "DNA" (god damn it, I typed DNS then, geek) to try and move away from the build quality issues and other assorted reputation issues (mostly not deserved at all).

I just hope they actually manage to make all these cars, it's all well saying there going to build them, but the Elise and it's derivatives have been all lotus have been making for a long time, and the company has well and truely stagnated as a result, i really hope the Evora is the start of a real model revival, the Elise concept is totally played out now and Lotus really do need to come up with a viable lineup and keep updating/replacing it on a regular basis

it's going to have to do better than the Evora, or they are doomed.

Is the Evora doing badly? I though a lot were being sold abroad?

I don't think the idea of a £150K+ Lotus is the issue per-say, there are plenty of buyer with that kind of cash, the issue is one of creditability in that market, and making a product that's actually going to meet (and surpass) that market's expectation.

consider that it will be going up head on against the Ferrari BBQ, and more importantly, the new McLaren, it's going to have to be something very special to compete with either of them, and consider in that market, Lotus DNA means squat....
