Hey guys,

Is it worth going out and buying an Elise (being dying over buying one for the last 2 years) as a way of getting over getting dumped?

If so, which would be better, and S1 or S2?

Excuse me, i'm drunk.

thanks

Absolutely! Should be the perfect way to forget your woes!

As for the S1/S2 debate, that depends on what your budget is, what you want out of the car and what styling you prefer. Go and have a look (and test drive) both.

No they're utter sh!te. Get one of these instead....

And I quote....
"This Jaw Dropping; Mouth watering; Punnannee wetting; Dick rising, car speaks for itself. Ali was on a mission to make sure he was driving in the maddest car around, no matter the cost. I think he has succeeded, would you say…… He has transformed this factory standard Civic Vti. into the countries MADDEST: BADDEST; FLIP COLOURED; WIDE ARCHED BEAST, that now turns heads every where it goes. And when you see it your jaws will drop and it’ll leave you thinking WHAT THE…..FCUK…was that???

I never see the point in spending so much money on a car to make it look like that. Don't know how much that guy spent but I'm sure he could have got a much nicer normal car with the money.

I had a mate who did a similar thing with a Metro. Spent about 5K on the car then another 10K doing it up..for that cost he could have had an elise...I know which I'd prefer...

Still whatever floats your boat I suppose

Just followed a new Aston and BMW Z4 through Altrincham and past a load of kids.

The Elise is sort of special :-)

Got one a couple of weeks ago as I was in exactly the same situation. Best move I ever made.

getting an Elise is cheaper than having a girlfriend,
I've got both and one'sgoing to have to go or I'll end up potless.

But which will it be?

You have the wrong girlfriend,... Find one that shares your love of cars,......... actually thats a bad idea, because she'll probably surpass you.

Qball - I got a MK 1 111s after a nasty split with an ex, best thing I ever did - It is a much better ride and I've been getting laid non stop ever since (more than can be said for I was going out with the Mrs)

I second the point about it being cheaper and lower maintanance

Do it - you know it makes sense

Further to my last reply, about to change the cambelt and considering upgrading to 135 spec, at least. There is a vague possibility of a Gumball moment in the future as well, so all in all the ex-g/f was noticeably more cost efficient. However, needs must ....

If it took getting dumped by my girlfriend to make me buy an Elise, I'd hope to get dumped!
Dan
editted tto say0 when it all comes down to it, the Lotus will cost abuut as much as a girlfriend, give you about as much pleasure, fewer problems even, and be just as good to look at! It isn't a bad exchange to mke at all.

So what does one do if they split up with their girlfriend and they *already own* an Elise?

You go through the selection process for a replacement model - test drive, make an offer etc etc
