Oh dear, really not used it much at all this year. Has been run most weeks, but just not very far. What a waste.

I catch a train to work so do small milage but not that low.

I was getting an MOT once and the guy in front with his 911 had driven from the MOT station home then to the MOT station the following year.

If it makes you feel better, I work offshore and 'only' get 2 months a year (summer, at least) to use mine......but I do go mad and tour Europe, get close to 3k on the clock.

Only thing you might want to consider is making sure the drives you do take get the oil and engine thoroughly warm. You'd be far better off driving 30 odd miles every 3 weeks than less than 10 every week, for example. Cars left standing tend to get water/condensation in the oil, and this must be burnt off - 30 minutes drive at leastthumbup

(It is also good for the oil and engine internals to get a thorough workout)

Blimey, you're never tempted to go for an early morning blast on a weekend? Going for a drive on traffic-free roads was the only thing that could get me out of bed early on weekends when I had my Elise. Loved doing it and it was a 120 mile round trip each time (I had to drive out of London first - you might have good roads on your doorstep).

Make a plan to go and buy the Sunday papers from 2 counties away or something!

Crikey - I have just MOT'd mine and was embarrased to have only done 3k miles - but 166 !!

You may as well get rid - it is just losing money for no good reason?

This will help the battery as well. I was told that to keep a battery in good condition you need to give the car a run of at least 30 mins once a week, short hops to the shops don’t work.

I'm in the same boat, only in UK for 6 months a year so that's about 2 months good weather. I love it to bits and scoot off to no where in particular when I can grab the chance but when you squeeze all your family commitments into half the year I struggle to get enough time with it. It never ever fails to put a smile on my face though.

This is the one thing that's stopping me from going to an Exige as it's very difficult to justify the spend in light of how much fun you'd get out of it, this is why my thoughts are turning to a Europa - my wife would be happier driving that than an Exige I suspect so it'd get more use, depreciation is starting to flatten and I think I'd get the same pleasure from it...

biggrin We really do share the same thoughts - I have been fighting with the obvious dilemma of having an Exige garaged for 9 months a year.....but have decided next summer, all being well, I will do it. As you say, coming back to the Elise after such a break is like being a kid at Christmas again, and I'm sure it will be the same with an Exige.

Sometimes you just have to forget being sensible and worrying too much about money - life is short!
