Garage has confirmed it is not an issue with the sender on the rear wheel. I am sure I read a long time ago that replacement instruments were v expensive - anyone any idea how much or where you can get it done?

Tacho was misreading too but is ok now.

Maybe a long shot but try resetting the stack.

Sit in the drivers seat with the door open,

Ignition in off possition.

Press little button on steering column binacle and hold it down.

turn ignition on so all dash lights come on.

Hold it there for a few seconds untill things start flashing and needles start flying around.

when it's stopped the Stack is re-set.

Might just work but your problems sounds more terminal ?

Good luck

will do, someone suggested something similar but don't think it involved holding it down, think it involved multiple pushes. It doesn't that nice little "click click click" anymore it used to do as you turned the ignition on, which I think was the resetting process, like someone shaking a box of little plastic pieces.

Have emailed stack re: where I can get a repair, but I really hope your fix works! To have the door open, presumably the door sensor must be working as I am not sure if the interior light comes on anymore. If that is defunct, then maybe I need to sort that out before I can use this fix?

Yes, door sensor must show as door open.

Deffo hold down steering column button.

I had a misredaing prob for both revs and speed after a flat battery and it cured it.

Good luck

wouldn't be a great excuse for a judge would it - I thought I was going 85 in a 30 zone, but actually I was going 35!

Tried the suggestion and it didn't work. But it did do the little click click thing and the dial did drop back to 40 for a fraction of a second and then settled at 50 again. No response from Stack rather disappointingly.

Have chased Stack by phone. Lotus and Stack are not friends anymore. Stack don't hold parts and won't touch Lotus instruments. Stack don't think anyone else, other than Lotus, will be able to fix it as it is likely to be a software and not an electronics issue.

So basically I can either pay silly Lotus prices or make do with it over-reading. Or, as it is constantly 50mph by the look of things, is there an easy way to take off the clear plastic instrument cover, so I can try to either a) move the needle back to 0 or b) stick another glow in dark needle on that reads correctly!

Have a look at the posts here (and mine about 4 from the bottom) See if that helps?

Just an update as I have been PM'd about this, I didn't do anything other than try the door open, multi-function button thing, but that didn't work. Speedo is resolutely stuck to a 50mph over-read, so I have just left it at that, the maths is easy at least! If going on a reasonable drive I just stick my bike gps to the dashboard, costs of replacing the unit are prohibitive and don't have the time or space at the moment to slice the unit apart and try and fix it myself, though I may have a look at doing that at some point

Crikey, I know Lotus always (like Ferrari) exaggerate their performance figures but that is ridiculous!
