pinkcore and topgear
Discussion
All you experienced pistonheads probably know this already but I just had a look at the rather strangely titled elise pinkcore site:
http://elise.pinkcore.com/index.asp
which has lots of interesting Elise stuff including pictures, service manual downloads, chat/forums, videos, etc.
In particular the Clarkson Topgear video review of the S2 111s from 2002 is interesting, not least for the film of Gavin Kershaw showing Mr. Clarkson how to drive an Elise!
However one interesting comment from Kershaw (Chief Lotus chasis engineer/test driver); the elise has been set up with quite a bit of intentional understeer to ensure that heavy footed newbies don't put it backwards through the hedge at the first corner they come to (admittedly I paraphrase here). He said that Lotus could supply bigger (?) front tyres to provide more front end grip if required. Does anyone have any experience of changing the front tyres or of what (if anything) Lotus recommend for a grippier front end? Would this require wider wheels and can you buy mathing alloys if necessary?

for the S2 you can buy wider OZ wheels with Yoko tyres - you also need the uprated suspension to cope with it...and a geo check
full kit is £1995+vat+fitting at www.sinclairebodyshop.co.uk so about £2.5K all in
wheels come in silver, black or gold
extra grip is awesome, zero understeer....the kit comes as std on the S2 135R and the Sport 190
the A048 Yoko tyres are not really designed for winter use though..........
