Oh BoLOCs..........where are you ?
Discussion
So whats happened to the BoLOCs this year. I may of missed it, but I am unaware of ANY get together this summer, possibly even this year.
No Burger runs, certainly no Sunday Breakfast meets, so whats gone wrong
Gooby has discovered that with the best intentions in the world, Babies take all your time
Capt Grinnders is finding all of this travel to Andover takes up all his time
Beachbum, well lets just say, work is non-stop.
Justin, where is he, does he even still frequent the forum, does he even still own his Elise
Phillygumbo, not heard a thing in a while
OrangeD/Mini Diva, well their car is a nice colour, but do they actually drive it, or is it still at the dealers getting the paint right.
The list goes on, or not as the case may be. Have we become what we all hoped we wouldnt, a social club that talks the talk, but no longer walks the walk. Before anyone says it, yes I am as guilty as anyone.
The irony is, I am writing this in Hong Kong, with no chance of getting to a meet for the next 5 weeks at the very least. But I though I'd raise the question and see what others have to say.

Hi. Still here. but back in a Porker and travelling to Southampton (where did you get Andover from???)
We have had a burger run in the spring time whilst I briefly owned the Exige S which you never even got to see.
I also popped out for a paper one Sunday morning (to Lyndhurst) and looped a 60 mile route.
I even setup a website www.grinnders.com with our routes on (using Ordnance Survey maps of course) in anticipation and then slip, bang, wallop in June.... no car for 6 weeks.
I'm ready for another, we just need to align some planets!
BH Monday evening??? hoping crockles have gone home?

I'm still alive, but I have a granddaughter who now dominates my thoughts. I still have the Elise, but drive it much less. Molly is two and a half now and since she was born I have not done a track day or PH/SELOC event, although I do attend the local Club Lotus monthly Sunday meetings. Times when I might have been hooning around in the Lotus are now spent visiting, such is the power of kids to take over your life.
I still look on here from time to time and if there is a run I can get to I certainly will.

I think the Bolocs have gone underground to some extent, but we are all here and very much still in touch with one another, but not really through PH. Christmas was a great turn-out.
We have had a couple of runs (literally) which were great, and make you wonder why we don't do it more often. But other runs were suggested on a number of occasions with no take-up. It's just priorities of all varieties that stand in the way (and need for beer at the end of a hellish week). I think the early Boloc years had a certain magic to them that drove it forward with huge momentum, but that has gone now. A lot of peoples situations have changed. I don't think that will be re-created easily, if at all, but there are some fantastic memories.
And to answer your question - yes the car is finished and is being driven, it gets to see daylight every day and gets put to bed at night, and I love to see it and drive it every day. 3 TDs in the next couple of months where it will get some 'proper' driving!
And on that bombshell, I'm gonna put up a post and see what happens!

still here but now with 12 week old daughter in tow!
Just, I didnt know !!!Congratulations to you and the Mrs. Maybe we should organise an Sunday Breakfast meet, just so the youngsters can be introduced. Obviously with the requisite Lotus's for you and Gooby, 3 into Lotus dont go.
As an honorarararay BoLOC I can confirm that there are still various non-BoMo meets that occur from time to time. Le Mans this year saw another good turnout, and next week me, Swiss and subaqua will be having a London drink up. In September us and SimonK will be doing some London boozing too, always open to any BoLOC's on tour to the smoke.
I'd love to be coming on the Bank Hol French trip but sadly (or not) we're trying to buy a house at the moment so all funds are allocated to that endeavour. Hopefully the Xmas meet-up will be on the calendar again this year. Last years was fantastic fun.

Still alive - which is always a bonus - but of course not around much since the Elise went
Mini & Works are right that the Xmas meet was absolutely cracking and there's no reason for that to change
Spend my forum time at autounity.net now... but it's no substitute for the meets
Happy days
Oh and yes, huge congrats to Just1, Dr Just and Jnr Just
We were saying only the other day that surely baby was due!

Still around but travelling to India and Singapore a lot. Work would like me to move to Singapore but not enough to buy me an Elise there. (On the road price 120K pounds)
I decided that driving a great car around stty congested roads and paying through the nose for the pleasure didn't stop me from moving out to Singapore - by far the best decision I've made for some time. Still miss the old crowd however!Bing o said:

Didn't know you'd moved out to Singapore, if you fancy a beer I'd be interested to get your thoughts on the move. I'll be there from the 27th for a week.
Without dragging the thread massively off topic, I've been out here for just over 3 weeks, and it's the best decision I could have made (in my circumstances). If you think you'll miss your car, wait until you've spent 30 minutes in a taxi out here with a hybrid cross of Schumi and Stevie Wonder at the wheel, with digital pedals I'm in Jakarta from the 27th-29th August, but can catch up any time during the week if you want my opinions (both good and bad) on the place.
