Dear All,

Interested if anyone has had a similar issue with the 340R (or Exige) that I have?

I have an intermittent fault that occurrs when the car is warm, where on acceleration the car will not rev through about 5.5k - it feels as if the car is hitting the limiter. Unfortuately as it is intermittent the dealer hasn't been able to pin point it yet and it is rather frustrating! Anyone got any ideas - the engine mgt has been replaced as have plugs, HT leads etc.

Cheers

Common problem.

I assume your ecu has had the recall and this is because of it!

The limiter cuts in at 5,500 as a safety feature beacause the ecu detects a missfire.

I have not experienced this but a few owners have and one inparticular, before the recall, car ended up in flames!

Usual fix's:

Only use standard leads (not magnetor)
Try pushing the leads 'home' as they have a tendancy to work loose.
If the above fails then the speed sensor on the wheel may need replacing.

I assume your not on the 340R group?

Lots of help with our babys on there!

If the car has had the ECU 'stutter' fix also make sure that the second speed sensor is properly connected and working well.

There should be two on these cars (340R and Exige). One for the stack speedo and the other for the ECU.

If the ECU sensor (used to determine vehicle speed and influence fuel cutoff on overrun) is not working then it will limit the engine to 5500rpm.

An oxidized connector or bad crimps in the cabling might be the culprit here. Or perhaps the sensor is dirty or slightly out of place.

Bye, Arno.
