To balance the bad karma of my last post I thought it might be fun to do a "great drives of the weekend" thread.

Whilst Saturday was a bore, Sunday was wicked.... sunny but cold and when the showers stopped the roads dried out in the wind and it was great having a blast along the M's, A's and B's of Kent.

Last night I had, I think, the greatest buzz I've had in the car so far... a simple 3rd to 4th gear change timed to (almost) perfection

The bark from the exhaust and the eagerness of the car to press-on in 4th makes me laugh like a kid.
Can't wait to get the roof off now. Bring on the summer!!!

Who's got a good driving moment from the weekend then?

Get the roof off now you jessie! Turn the heating up full blast and you'll hardly notice it.

Didn't use the Elise at the weekend but went to stock car racing - great racing and the odd spill - highly recommended

Didnt get much free driving in but managed a 25 minute journey in 8 minutes on sunday. Looking forward to the next regional get together of like minded folk.

I went to Tesco! Thats all I managed this weekend. Really looking forward to Donnington though for a good run, just hope I can get the top down Love it when the car just feels right and it makes all the right sounds, feel on top of the world!

Took chap from work for a blast round the lanes.

He went from enthusiastic - "fantastic proper car"
Out the car park and in traffic

to shock "christ it goes well"
first bit of road without traffic

to "I'm feeling sick" all in 10 min
returning down same bit of road without traffic

And all well under the NSL

Good result I think (even if he did look a bit wobbly when he got out)

A few good runs this weekend but the weekend before last I put 220 miles on the car in the Brecon Beacons.

It really is the best place in the world for an Elise.

The weather was fantastic, nice and sunny but with a nice refreshing nip in the air and there was very little traffic.

I love the car when the roof is off. It feels so much tighter. It's as if the car knows what is going to happen when you take the roof 'here he comes, is he going to take me to the shops? no hang on a minute he's taking my top off! I'm in for a bloody good thrashing here!!!'

Hope the weather is good for a top down run to Donnington

Took my new Type 25 out for a couple of runs at the weekend. Still restricted to under 3,000 rpm so just a little frustrating but still loved it. Saw two other elises out too, lots of friedly waving and flashing!

Currently searching out A & B roads around Herts/Beds/Bucks and found a few crackers although the Snooper S4 is certainly earning its keep. With the rev restriction overtaking Volvos is proving a challenge and being burned up by Vauxhall Novas keen to prove the superior power and handling of their 900cc engines and Luton engineered chasis' is something I suppose I'll have to get used to (well for another 150 miles at least!)
