Hopefully this is the 3rd and last thing to go wrong - they do say things come in 3's and seeing as this is my 3rd week of ownership I'm hoping el Beast is getting this out of his system before spring kicks in with some serious sunshine!

Having spent all last week waiting to pick up the beast after it's country lane tantrum of the weekend previously, it then went and kicked me in the nuts on the way home.

There am I enjoying following Raify down the M20 thinking about the weekend of high-octane amusement ahead when I decide to get a little fresh air.

Down I wind the drivers window when all of a sudden the handle's spinning but the window's not moving. Horse-@rse thinks I, and winds in the up direction. The car responds by dropping the window about 5inches at the back and 3 at the front... thanks very much El Bastardo (as he is currently known). As you can imagine I was less than amused

Anyway to cut a long and boring story short I spent about 5 hours with Raify buggering about trying to get the thing sorted out. It's stuck on with a temporary fix with Araldite but I'll get it sorted properly next week. I've found the excellent info on how to do this on the elise-info website but I just don't have the space or time to sort it this week.

He's off to get new shoes next Monday and the place I'm taking him to have said they'll sort the window properly in half an hour so I'll let them do it. They're also going to adjust it properly to get a nice fit on the rear edge which isn't lined up very well at the top right now.

Excellent, that's off my chest now.

P.S. I still love it!!

Moral of the story:- get a can of rubber lubricant from halfords (yellow can) spray this over the rubber window guides and wind the window up and down a few times and it'll stop it happening again.

Also - I arildited my drivers window a year ago and its been fine since.

Hate to be the one who brings bad news but the windows on mine have had attempted fixies by dealers (the fully badged up Lotus ones) 4 times now (all under warranty) it does take about 30min for them to fix but it falls to bits again within 500 miles.

So spent much of my ownweship with the drivers window up - next time I am going to fix it for real - myself.

If you want a job doing etc .....

Yep - par for the course I'm afraid.....

I've had mine 6 months and its gone twice. Its one of those things that you never know about Elises until you own one. By my reckoning now you've had the battery and window - that about levels you up with me.

My passenger side window went two years ago and the drivers side shortly afterwards I've sprayed both with the rubber lubricant in the front and rear window guides and it stops the glue braking by reducing the drag on the window when you wind it up and down.

Being the person who runs the FAQ . . . thanks :-) . . . glad it's of use !

Being the person who's car was repaired for the FAQ/Window repair pics . . .

The OEM fitted window retainers on my car were hardly glued at all, and thus it's no wonder that the joints failed . . .

I'd strongly suggest replacing the plastic retainer clips as it does help the new (better) glue to work properly, they are cheap anyway.

The glue mentioned in the FAQ is the same as Lotus are supposed to use when repairing the car, but I KNOW some dealers don't use it . . . (surprise surprise)

It's damn strong stuff and well worth sourcing over something like araldite . . .

Cheers
