Alarm/Immobiliser

Sorry if this has been asked before but i cant find it in the archives.

Just bought a '99 S1. How can i tell if the alarm/immobiliser is the Cat 1 equivalent or just a bog standard one. Its a Lotus fitted Cobra but thats all i know so far.

I think the Lotus fitted Cobra is a Cat 1.

It should be a Cobra 6422 and you should have an installation certificate with your user manual and service record.

I thought i read somewhere that Lotus also fitted Cobra systems to the S1 that weren't Thatcham Cat 1 approved? Could be wrong about that of course.

Excellent, thanks for that. Havent actually picked the car up yet but i'll check when i do, and amend the insurance if necessary.

I think you're right and there may be some cars floating around without the Cobra 6422, so check before you arrange your insurance or you may not be covered for theft!
