Elise One - Pheasant Nil
Discussion
As I was accellerating out of Fulbourn this morning past a queue of parked cars waiting to enter through the traffic "calming" a dopey looking pheasant scampered out in front of me, I was doing 40-50mph.
One very big BANG! and one very suprised (and most likely dead) pheasant. I pulled over a bit further up to check that my number plate wasn't hanging off, and fortunately my car has sufferred no apparent damage (yet - waiting for the cracks in the gel coat!). Just a muddy smear on the number plate and the body just under the Lotus badge. It seems the reg plate took the brunt of the impact and distributed the force very well.
Phew!

For god's sake keep this quiet! If you're not careful the boffins at Lotus will start runing tests (like the ones jet engine chappies do with dead chickens). Next thing you know the animal rights types will be besieging Hethel in protest and who knows where it will end.
ps pheasants are good eating if they're young. You can tell if the spurs are still soft. Hard and sharp spurs mean over a year old so a bit tough. Knowing how slow the mail is these days, if you post it then it will be nicely 'hung' by the time it arrives.

You really do learn new things every day - but would never have guessed this pearl of wisdom could be found on piston heads
