Very very close to a splat!

Pottering home today had a near miss with a cyclist - certainly scared the crap out of him and me.
Rolling to up to a red light - two lanes, me in off side passing a row of standing traffic waiting to turn left.
When cyclist about 14 on a BMX appears half a car length in front of me between two cars.
Fortunately I saw him before he saw me and stamped on the brakes stopping just about dead. He tried to turn but so quick he fell off in front of me. (A good splat that hopefully will make him more careful in future)
I think the cause was 'visibility' I could not see over the stopped cars, and I was under his line of sight.
People 'not seeing' me has happened before, generally in car parks and on motorways where you sort of learn to expect it. But have always had more time to react - possibly a draw back of driving a skateboard.
He jumped up said he was sorry and peddled off at speed. Not sure what the plods would have said if I had of hit him - probably been nicked 'dangerous driving for having the audacity to use a car in a public place'.
Ah well car and NCB intact and a sprog exposed to some action learning on road saftey.

Yup Gfun, It definately does have disadvantages being that low down. Im sure the people who developed ARMCO did it to annoy people like us! i have to just about stop at roundabouts (much to the discust of peeps behind), most of which have armco in a position that you cant see traffic on the round about.
Think i might invest in one of those hydraulic suspension kits the mexican boys love so much!!
