I had the pleasure of picking up my very first 1998 Lotus Racing Green S1 just over a week ago now, fantastically pleased as you can imagine... however, the very next day someone very kindly clipped my driverside door mirror sending it spinning off into pieces... not happy..!

However, I have since bought the replacement and had it colour coded accordingly.... BUT, I cannot fathom how to remove the carcass of the old one to exchange it for my shiny new one?

Can anyone shed any light...?
I have upon inspection found 1 incredibly hard to reach screw on the lower half of the door mirror fixture, but it shows 2 on my replacement..
Any tips/ideas/anything to make this seemingly impossible task acheivable..?

Many thanks all..

K.

Its not actually that tough, but Im wracking my brain to remember exactly how... Bah its gone 3am, no wonder my grey matter isnt firing correctly.

Its shown in the service notes / workshop manual, buying a copy from your local dealer will likely be the best purchase you can make at the moment.

Were the wing mirror mounts changed at some point?

I seem to recall one screw on a 98 Elise... Are you sure you've recieved the right one from the dealer?

Will check tomorrow and throw up an updated post if someone else doesnt beat me to it.

Even at 3am your grey matter was working, it is only 1 screw on the 98... well done.

I am gonna have a crack at it today, surely 1 screw can't come between me and my shiny new mirror...?

Many thanks for your reply though, much appreciated..
