Hi

After months of looking I've finally taken the plunge and got myself a S2 elise. I've had the car for about a week now and completed around 150 miles (2nd car).

As this is my first elise, I was wondering if some of you long standing forum members could answer a few questions I have about the car.

Shortly after purchasing the car the MIL light came on. I stuck a reader into the port under the dash and the error code reported is P0340, which I belive is the camshaft position sensor. I've looked on eliseparts.com to source a replacement but apparently there are two types (VVC & Non VVC). Can someone tell me if the S2 (MY2001 K series bog standard 120) has a VVC or non VVC engine so I can order the appropriate part? Do these sensors fail very often?

On a slightly different note, when I bought the car I checked all the lights were OK. Over the weekend a friend noticed my brake lights weren't working and I traced this to a blown bulb. After the bulb was replaced the brake lights started to function again but their switching on and off after pressing the brake pedal is very hit and miss. Is there a brake switch anywhere near the pedal assembly I can look to replace to make the brake lights are more reliable? Whilst I was grovelling around in the drivers footwell I also noticed an unattached spring hanging from the acclerator assembly. I pressume this should be connected to something?

And finally, does anyone know if there is an owners club that meet in or around Gloucestershire? I'm planning to do a few track days although I have no previous experience and it would be good to meet up with some like minded enthusiasts.

Thanks in advance
Adam

Only the 111S and 111 were VVC, generating about 160bhp in the S2 and 140 in the S1. The 120bhp car is non-VVC.

Try www.seloc.org for other Lotus owners in your area, strictly speaking it's the South East Lotus Owners Club (hense seloc) but the site seems to cover just about everyone around the World! Look in the 'regions' forum, you can't go wrong smile

IIRC brake light activation (on the S1 at least - probably the same for S2) is a pressure switch in the brake line. may not be set properly...
will look later for a spring and post what i find.
