sounds like you need a multi-meter (or bulb + battery) & a circuit diagram. If you are systematic you should be able to work out where the problem lies..it will save a lot of time and money compared with the replace everything in turn approach.
Ps - I hope this doesn't sound rude - it is not meant to be !

Yep.....sounds like you have everyone's favourite....corroded wiring. And Ade is right, you simply must get a multimeter if you want to try DIY repairs. They can help you find wires which are broken internally (and you don't need the ignition on). A cheap and cheerful one will do.Ps - I hope this doesn't sound rude - it is not meant to be !
Also, make sure all the wiring is clean and the connectors, too. If the light are working through the alarm circuit, the bulbs must be OK so yes, you need to check the wiring of the signal circuit.
The multimeter is your friend!
So I've sorted it. It was actually the hazard switch. I've temporarily removed this and jammed a wire in to connect the appropriate terminals to give power to the indicators. What a bizarre design! (If anyone's got a spare switch I'll swap an indicator stalk and a flasher relay for it!)
