Right i'll keep it brief.

Need some advice:

car is S1 111s, the engine management light would start flashing intermittently when i slowed down in traffic, after a few seconds a cylinder would get shut down and the car left in 'limp home' mode.

fixed that problem with new coil (badly eroded lead 3 terminal), new plugs (all badly worn), and new magnacor leads. Problem solved, or so i thought!
on driving home from the workshop the car would do exactly the same, i.e.the engine management light would start flashing and a cylinder would get shut down and the car left in 'limp home' mode. However this time it happens when i hit, between 3900 - 4000 RPM, and i just dont understand???

i know i need to stick the ol diagnostic thingy on and get a fault code - does any one have any ideas where the plug is for the diagnostic to be connected to?

the problem is the 'new magnacor leads'

it's miss-fire detection is setup for the OEM leads, new magnacor ones are 'different' so it will trigger the detection and cut cylinders.

either use Rover leads or remove the miss-fire detection hardware.

If you're removing the misfire detection kit altogether, I know someone who's after one (for what reason I've no idea!)
