Few things going wrong at the moment. S2 K Series.

Tappetts are noisy for the first minute or two after starting.

Engine light is constantly on.

Every few days (I drive about 8m per day now) the engine light starts flashing and I loose power. If I put the car in neutral the engine will stay on and light becomes solid. If I keep her in gear or change into another gear I get no response from putting the throttle down engine is still on and the light starts flashing again. If I put in neutral the light stops flashing. Then if I turn her off completely wait 20 seconds and turn her back on again everything is OK but engine light is back to solid again.

Idle is funny, not smooth. Engine is kind of vibrating more than it should when idle.

Also some coolant lose issues which has been going on since before I had any engine light problems....

Me wants to cry...

You need to get a reader on the car to find the fault codes before you do anything else. Yes, hgf will affect it running and may cause the cylinders to misfire, but get this read and go from there. If you have a plastic inlet, you might just have a failed inlet manifold gasket which is £15, which is leaking water into the inlet and causing the misfire and em light.

Yep, if the MIL light is flashing get a fault reader on it. A static one usually clears after a few restarts if it's a one-off.

Stop driving it until it's sorted.

Thanks guys for the responses. The RAD was changed in mine already due to the rivett eroding away at it.

I had her on the diagnostics machine and there were no errors!!! feck!

She is loosing coolant still and still loosing power every now and then.

I have ordered one of those plastic gaskets as suggested above. This should arrive on Monday / Tuesday £15. Access to change this plastic gasket seems to be difficult. Is it possible to do without removing the clam? Looks tight!

I changed the spark plugs also, no difference.

Please, some wizard come and make my car beautiful to me again

Not had to change the manifold gasket on mine ( VVC) and others do it without 'much' grief. Just try it and see what happends. Is there and plugs that look different to the rest?
