Insurance and trackers?!!?
Discussion
I have just enquired about insurance. The car and myself have been out of the country for 15 months and the direct line and tesco are requiring a tracker to be installed. I don't and it didn't have one 15 months ago when it was insured by direct line. It's also 200 quid dearer than before yet the car is older - whats going on and what is everybody else doing....
Hi there Nobbles,
I had a similar experience with Direct Line, a competitive quote was superceded the followinbg year by a £200 hike.
35yrs, Full No claims, garaged went from £750 to £960
I went to Esteem (Official Lotus Club), they were much cheaper £560.
Regards, Neil
PS They don't need a tracker neither!

Tesco dont need trackers anymore. The call centre's computers say you do but if you ask them to check with the underwriter then you will find that it is all tosh!
Post on SELOC if you have any problems as there are several people on there that have done this.
One more thing - Footman James can be competitive. Do a search on yell.co.uk

Yep, elephant did me a good quote - £791 for a 28yr old, 3yrs no claims, no accidents or points, fully comp, on street parking, no tracker.
I think a lot of these places offer introductory discounts which make your first premium competitive, then when you come to renew the discount isn't there and it's suddenly more expensive.
Bear in mind also that if you join SELOC you can get quite handy discounts (e.g. from Adrian Flux) which often amount to more than the cost of membership... so you get a double-deal!

chaps
I bought Alex's car on Tuesday.
Shopped around for insurance, took up Liverpool Victoria's £520.
Then rang up THB to cancel the Caterham's insurance. Spoke to very helpful chap with top attitude (richard callan - 0115 941 5255 switchboard), and he offered £480 plus trackdays very cheap (£75 per day, £2k xs with any approved organisation). And no tracker (thieving gits at Tracker want £140 to transfer a subscription that Alex had paid for to November!).
LV has a 14 day moneyback cancellation so off we go.
CALL RICHARD NOW!
cheers
