It just occurred to me that the price in the UK usually includes the tax already? Can someone confirm this?
I'm just wondering what the UK price is, and what the price includes? Tax? Registration? Title? Destination?

Because the US Elise is "supposedly" going to be $38,500 MSRP. And I'm guessing after tax (7.75% where I live), registration ($500?), and everything else, the Elise is going to cost far over $42k.
So basically, I'm just trying to see how much over the UK cost we're going to pay here.

Granted we're getting a different engine here and everything. But still curious.....

Well that will be a first if true - something costing more in the states than over here.

Usually when we import things from the US they knock off the $ sign and put a £ sign on instead!

Prices in the UK are usually the "on the road price", including all mandatory fees. I think our advertising standards people enforce this. For comparison, I think the hidden costs are:

VAT (Value Added Tax - our national GST) @ 17.5%
Registration Fee (Title) @ £25
Number (Licence) plates @ £80
Delivery to dealer - varies, but typically £250-350
Road Tax - varies, £100-£160 pa depending on vehicle

You can't avoid these unless you export the car.

Cheers,
