Honda elise, anyone running a JDM ecu on a UK engine?
Discussion
I have both JDM & UK ecu's & about to have a K-Pro board fitted to one of them.
Does anyone know of any drawbacks or problems running the JDM ecu on a UK engine? I know about the Vtec cutout with low oil pressure on the UK ecu but not to worried about that as there are plenty of JDM cars running around like that.
The reason i want to use the JDM is because the wideband lamda sensor it uses, although im not to sure how accurate these are compared to modern sensors? Im also aware that i will have to wire it up differently.
The other option i have is to keep the PRA ecu & wire in my Dynojet wideband reader to the K-Pro so it displays the reading on the screen.
Anyone have any experience of this?

you need to either use a JDM engine loom or modify the UK loom to include the wiring for the different lambda.
(Also the interface loom to the car will need to be different)
basically, it's do-able, but pointless as the so called wide-band senders are about as accurate as a drunken wino.
if you want a wideband, use a dedicated one (and make sure you free-air calibrate it)
if it has a 5V output, you can feed this into the ecu for logging use...

Cheers Simon,
You have just confirmed my worst fears, i have eventualy got hold of a PRD ecu with the intention of fitting it but then started to think about how accurate the sensor would be as its only an early design 4 wire sensor.
Do you think i would be better off sticking to my PRA & wiring in my Dynojet wideband sensor? I know it wont work in closed loop mode & only be of use for the display.
Are there any advantages to the JDM ecu or not worth bothering with?
Im not woried about the wiring mods as i have to make a loom up anyway because the ecu ect. is going on the inside of the bulkhead behind the seat.

yea, use a (honda) narrow band for closed loop, then use the wide-band for logging and tunning (use ELD input to ECU then Kmanager can display and work with it).
No real upside to PRD, you loose the Vtec pressure switch (useful) but everything else is the same.
carfull what diagrames you look at for wiring this, most are for US looms and are wrong, use the UK Helms manual, it's right.
