I've noticed on 'engines' forum that I posted that my R1 bike got 30mpg out of a 1000cc engine.
He replied that an elise gets 50mpg. This seems to be a very high figure to me. Does an elise really get 50mpg??

high 30s or around 40mpg on motorways. Not sure on urban. mid-20s?

As always, depends on driving style

I get 42mpg - using the car everyday - & not driving it too much like an old dear either.

I did one time keep an excel spreadsheet (how sad am I ) - but you could notice a 1-2mpg drop off the closer it got to needing a service - so useful for monitoring the health of the car.

On a long trip in my S2 111S keeping my speed within reason on the motorway gets me an average 45mpg. I seem to remember reading that the 160PS engine is a little more economical than the 120PS.

Crikey, what am I doing wrong? Best I can manage on long journeys is 38mpg!

The S2 111S must be much more efficient than the 150ps S1 111S, which I've always understood to be less efficient than the 120ps standard car.

My 2002 S2 111S averages about 36/37 mpg. I don't thrash it (very often), but I it does sit at 85mph on a 50 mile daily round trip to work, and I will use all the revs to "make progress" when safe.

The right side of 40 is easily possible on a gentle cruise.

Ive had 45-50mpg before when my car was std cruising at 60-70mph (due to traffic) on motorway
I now manage around 25mpg cruising, 20mpg avg

I believe the officical figures for the original S1 with the long fifth gear would do about 30 round town, 50 on the open road and a combine figure or about 40.
